2022 – Dick Whittington

The latest D.A.D.S. production to grace the Winn Hall’s stage in November 2022, the show was performed over 2 days – an evening performance on Friday 25th November and a matinee and evening performance on Saturday 26th November. The show was presented over two acts with a 15 minute interval.

Dick Whittington is a poor boy who travels to London with nothing but his faithful cat, Tom, and dreams of making his fortune. When he arrives, he is taken in by the kindly merchant Mr Fitzwarren, who gives him a job as a kitchen boy.

One night, Dick and Tom discover that the kitchen is infested with rats. With the help of his clever cat, Dick comes up with a plan to get rid of the rats and save the day. Impressed by his bravery and ingenuity, Mr Fitzwarren promotes Dick to be his personal servant.

Dick however chooses to set sail with Mr Fitzwarren’s twin brother on a trading mission. However, their ship is wrecked and they find themselves stranded on a deserted island in the South Seas. Once again, Dick and Tom come to the rescue, using their wits and bravery to defeat the horde of rats that have taken over a nearby palace.

As a reward for his heroism, Dick is given a fortune and returns to London, where he marries Alice, Mr Fitzwarren’s lovely niece, and lives happily ever after.

The story of Dick Whittington remains a beloved tale of perseverance, bravery, and the power of friendship.
